No Film School Interviews Oscar-Nominated Filmmakers

March 24, 2022

With the 94th Academy Awards this Sunday, Blue Wire’s No Film School podcast continues to show why it’s one of the most valuable tools for aspiring filmmakers around the world. Over the last several months, No Film School has conducted in-depth interviews with actors, editors, producers, cinematographers, and many more from the films that will be featured at this Sunday’s Oscars.

Whether it’s director Kenneth Branagh detailing what makes Belfast his most “personal” film, Director of Photography Michael Bauman and Editor Andy Jurgenson breaking down the ‘70s look behind Licorice Pizza, or Dune’s DP Greig Fraser and Editor Joe Walker conveying the work that goes into making a film feel epic, the thorough analysis and candid interview style behind No Film School is second-to-none.

One of the most unique things about No Film School is the diversity of both personnel and discussions that the podcast features beyond the big names, like VFX experts from the newest James Bond film and even film historians on how the Academy Awards have evolved.

No Film School’s editor-in-chief George Edelman mentioned that of all the films up for awards this Sunday, the one he was highest on was Nightmare Alley, a noir psychological thriller whose DP and Editor he interviewed back in December. No Film School publishes multiple episodes a week of incredible interviews just like these, so be sure to check out this week’s interviews with Tamara Deverell and Luis Sequiera from the art department for Nightmare Alley and Mark Manguini and Theo Green from the sound department for Dune this week.
