Blue Wire Takes Over At Barrett Sports Media Summit
Blue Wire had a strong presence at last month’s Barrett Sports Media Summit in Los Angeles at the Founders Club at USC.
Blue Wire’s SVP of Business Development, Maggie Clifton, was one of the speakers at the From Podcast to Podca$h panel, which focused on podcast advertising from a network’s perspective, along with Gordy Rush of Guaranty Media, Ryan McDermott from Barstool Sports, and Matt Mallon at the Locked On Podcast Network.
Clifton remarked that brands are still utilizing promo codes and direct links as ways to measure their ROI, but the technology is evolving to allow more blue-chip advertisers to enter the fold. With over three years in the space, she also added that podcast advertisers are becoming more and more diverse. Blue Wire’s relationship with the Wynn in Las Vegas and its state-of-the-art studio built into the hotel played a role in the uniqueness of our advertising acumen.
After the panel, Rachel Nichols and Baron Davis discussed the role of professional athletes in the podcasting space and his role as an investor. Davis, an early investor of Blue Wire back in June 2020, told Nichols “I looked at Blue Wire and said this is a perfect opportunity to be in the podcast space... The company has great vision, great intuition, and they care about what they’re building.”
Davis also spoke about Blue Wire CEO Kevin Jones and spoke to his fierce determination that has led to Blue Wire’s success, remarking that with Jones, “you don’t see someone that’s wishy-washy or someone just jumping towards trends like NFT’s. They’ve just been headstrong and bullish about this podcast space for sports, sports teams, and for the middle market sports creator because that’s where you’re going to find the next great talent.”
