Stipe Miocic On Fighting Brock Lesnar: "It'd be an early night for me"

September 14, 2020

After beating Daniel Cormier in his last fight, Stipe Miocic solidified his place as one of, if not the greatest heavyweight fighters that combat sports has ever seen. While defeating Cormier for the second time in their third match was certainly a career defining moment, there is one potential opponent for Miocic that may intrigue UFC fans.

Former UFC heavyweight champion and current WWE Superstar Brock Lesnar is a name that was brought up to Miocic in his latest appearance on the Chris Van Vliet show.

Van Vliet asked Miocic if he would be willing to step in the octagon with Lesnar. Miocic stated that there is no one he would back down from.

“I’d fight anyone, there’s no question, I don’t care, I would take that fight in a heartbeat,” Miocic said.

While being considered one of the greatest competitors the sport has ever seen, Miocic taking any challenge is never out of the question. However, it was the following statement from Miocic that exuded confidence.

“Yeah I mean, I think it’d be an early night for me.”

Miocic’s confidence would appear to be more than warranted. Lesnar has not fought in the UFC since his 2016 win over Mark Hunt, a decision which was later overturned after Lesnar tested positive for taking banned substances.

In that same timeframe since Lesnar’s last fight, Miocic has gone 5-1, four of which coming by knockout, and all matches were for a title. That is a stark contrast in reps over the past four years.

Whether that fight can actually be booked is a question we may never get that we may never get the answer to, it certainly is a great debate for fighting fans over who would win.
