Andrew Yang Calls WWE's Treatment of Wrestlers"Plain F***ing Greedy"

September 10, 2020

Although former Presidential candidate Andrew Yang didn’t make his bid to become the Democratic nominee, he may be paving his way to the Secretary of Labor position - and his first target? WWE and the tycoon who runs the show, Vince McMahon.

On today’s episode of The Chris Van Vliet Show, Yang expresses that the “bill is coming due” for the billion dollar industry who has come under scrutiny for exploiting it’s prominent wrestlers as independent contractors.

This isn't the first time Yang has spoken out about the mistreatment of the industry's superstars, and it probably won't be the last as Yang told Van Vliet he’s going to find “great pleasure” in being there when Olympus finally falls.

WWE has never been the forefront of media coverage, and Yang believes they use their place on the back-burner as a method of getting away with mistreating their wrestlers for the last several decades.

“If your company is worth 3.3 billion, and you're mistreating workers, that's just shameful. Really, it's shameful," Yang said. "There was a point in the distant past where you could’ve made a legitimate argument based upon cost, but now you can’t. Now it’s just plain f***ing greed."

As Yang grew up watching the sport, he has become tired of seeing his childhood heroes put themselves on the line and not get what they deserve at the end of the day. He pointed out that fans are now more aware than ever of the situation and deserve better from the company.

Vince McMahon may have grown up around wrestling, but he might just be in the ring with his most formidable opponent yet.
